Creatures Village simply plopped onto the iPad could be fun, and cheap to do. Though it would be nicer to have something more like DS, ie actually take advantage of the internet access.
>Being a fan of Apple products, I can easily see how the community could expand after the release of a Creatures game for the iPad or even iPod Touch.
Well, the app wouldn't necessarily lead people back to the community! With no way to import Norns or agents, few people would likely seek out a community.
All that said, grandroids is likely to be put on iPad and I am replying to an old thread which the introductory rules said not to do :O |

As complex as Grandroids is going to be compared to Creatures, and as dedicated as Steve Grand is to detail and quality in his AI, I can't see that combination (Grandroids for iPad) ever happening. Maybe if Gameware were in charge, but not from Steve. I mean come on, that would be like Britney Spears composing the theme song for Barney the Dinosaur.

I doubt the iPad would be powerful enough to run it. I also doubt it would be very playable. |

Sorry, fix'd.
Anyway, I think the power of the iPad is being vastly underrated, personally.

Yeah, the iPad wouldn't be able to handle as many "navens" as a PC, but I bet it could run one or two. I only brought it up because Grand himself mentioned it... well he vaguely mentioned it. The Unity3D framework he's using works on iOS and he mentions at the bottom of the kickstarter that mobile versions will come later.
If Gameware *were* somehow convinced an iOS CA could be worth the little time it would take to produce, and it became even mildly successful, they might start producing new breeds or worlds which you buy for a few dollars as game addons; which would be kinda cool. Honestly though now that Sir Grand is working on a new title, I feel more or less like a new Creatures wouldn't be exciting! Or, it would only be exciting if it went deep into the biological side of the a-life involved (whereas Grandroids will go into the neurological side). |

Here's a copy and paste of an authentic E mail reply to me about C4. It includes some info about the subject. I've removed my name because I just feel like doing that.
"Hi [ANONYMOUS],
Thank you for your continued loyalty to the Creatures IP. Whilst it may appear to you that nothing has happened with the Creatures franchise, there have in fact been several implementation proposals over the years both from Gameware and from independent development teams. The problem is that unless a publishing or funding partner is convinced by the commercial opportunity, making a new Creatures games is just not viable.
However, we live in hope and the louder the active creatures community shouts for a new game the more likely it is to be heard. Facebook and Apple formats are the places where we would like to see Creatures re-born.
All the best

emails like this before, so if you can, try to show this to the people
who can make decisions for the company like that.

It might actually be kind of interesting if Navens could use the iPad the way SA and SA2 Chao used the VMU--to carry your favorite with you, play with it while you're away from the rest of your "herd", and maybe take it over to load into a friend's game. I'm sure the iPad could implement that kind of idea in a more interesting way than the VMU did.

Yeah. That sounds more like clingy desperation to me than good, solid creativity. I'd still be interested in seeing what they might come up with, but you know it wouldn't come close to the quality of what we have now.

With a speach to text implementation, communication with your norns can be done. No problem.
I see no reason for a creatures for anything other than a pc though. Too few would buy it to make a profit, and I can not think of any other reasons. Its no improvement and won't add anything except mobility.
Mobility isn't an argument either: Recent Usb-stick capacity is over hunderds of GB. |

I would love to have a simulation game for my iPad. There isn't even a Sims version for it.

I don't have an iPad and I hate Facebook games...
If they come out with a new game for iPad, it better be out on the PC as well. Otherwise I'm going to be a sad, sad person. :[ |

Now that I think of it.... A nornish game for the Ipad or any other mobile device would be quite interesting!

I would agree... It might not.... WONT be as good as on the pc or mac (for DS) but it will still be fun

The point is that such a game (Facebook, iPad, iPhone) would have nowhere near the level of complexity of the current games. They would most certainly strip out most or all of the genetics and brain, or at least simplify it a great deal and take lots of shortcuts, and it would be just another "pet game". Which I, at least, am not interested in at all. The reason Creatures is so great is because it's NOT just a simulation, it is - at a very basic level - actual artificial life. I'd honestly rather have Gameware leave it alone than cheapening it by making it into a Facebook game.
Anyway, with Steve's project in the works, seeing another Creatures title really isn't important to me anymore, especially not as long as Gameware is sitting on the rights. I have absolutely no faith they'll do anything worthwhile with it.

I just forgot how little data an I-whatever can hold. At most it could hold one normal norn! If they do make a tittle it should be for the PC and not for mobiles. I am not saying they should not make a mobile device, im just saying dont deplete creatures.... They could make V seamonkeys for I-pad XD
