type | Genetics Only | author | Marcus Kurzbach | updated | 3/10/2014 | website | [view] | PLEASE NOTE: The Paradox Norns genetics are special, in that they are a toxic breed which can reproduce with any other breed with a high chance of the child being able to survive. However, there is a trade off. If the Paradox Norns should become infected with certain chemicals, they become little more than zombies; unable to breed, no drives and immortal, unless they suffer enough injury to kill them.
The Paradox Norns are just that: A paradox. They can survive in either toxic or 'clean' environments. Also, when breeding with other Norn breeds, the resulting offspring will be either 100% Paradox, or 100% other, unlike standard Toxic Norns which produce offspring that may contain conflicting genes. An exception would be if a Paradox Norn breeds with a Toxic Norn, in which case the offspring may be either 100% Toxic, 100% Paradox, or a mix of Toxic and Paradox.
They use one of the following sprite sets from the following breeds, which must be installed to display properly*:
Bengal Norn
Bruin Norn
ChiChi Norn
Civet Norn
Dream Norn
Fimbul Norn
Gargoyle Norn (C3/DS)
Magma Norn
Primavera Norn
Yellowstone Norn
They are also distinguished by the constant presence of a Banshee Grendel tail, if this breed is installed. If not, they have a standard C3 Grendel tail.
*Note: It is not required to have all of the listed sprits sets installed. The Paradox Norns have several different genomes, each genome uses a different sprite set from the list. |

Cyanide has a lot of genes associated with it- do you have Creatures 3 installed?- here is a quick way to check:
1) Download both the infirmary metaroom and the c3 agent room for undocked worlds from the download section.
2) Start a new world.
3) Inject the agent room.
4) Go into the c3 tab and inject the infirmary. Click on the door once to kill it
5) Hatch some paradox norns.
6) On the graph in the infirmary, set the chemicals to the following :
34
2
67
35
7) Take your test norn and place them into the infirmary.
8) MAKE CERTAIN YOUR TEST NORN IS THE ONE SELECTED FOR THIS STEP! Open the CAOS command line, and type the following:
targ norn chem 67 .1
and hit enter
9) Watch the graph. If I'm right about this, ATP production should stop, and the norn should die in a few seconds.

OK, after testing these norns in a Teoxic environment, I have found that something is amiss.
I hatched four eggs, one after the previous norn died. None of the norns lived past Youth stage.
On investigating with the hoverdoc, the first was heavily infected with bacterial antigens 0 to 7, glycotoxin, heavy metals, cyanide, and others. The second was the same as the first, except also infected with Chems 76 and 77. The third had a large amount of heavy metals, and the last had a large amount of glycotoxin.
I've tried looking at their genomes in LiveGMS, but I have no clue what I'm looking at.

It's not my genome, unfortunately.
As for the 100% one or the other, I have no clue how he did it, and honestly, it may even be a translation error on my or Google's part.

Maybe he used the variant portion of the genes?
| |
|
Perhaps they tacked the genes onto the very end of the genome? [/wildguess]

This genetic breed does sound most impressive, how did you get them to be either 100% Paradox or 100% other?

These look interesting. I like that you can get different varieties.
