It's just about that time of year to start thinking about the CCSF 2014! We've had a great deal of success in gathering survey responses from members of the community to help plan the fundamental aspects of each festival. Please take a moment to share your thoughts and opinions in the following survey. This is only the first of several so we can get an idea of general preferences! The CCSF is a community-run event created for the entire community to enjoy. Don't miss out on this opportunity to help shape this year's event! Thanks for taking the time to help!

I will be stepping back from the rest of the planning for the CCSF 2014. Anyone is welcome to host additional surveys and get the ball rolling on figuring out the coordinators and other details. Thanks to everyone who participated in the survey!

Hoo, boy! Interesting results, I'd say! I'm eager to see who volunteers for coordinating...
Personally, (depending on theme,) I'd like to submit graphics and/or mascot drawings this year. I think it'd be cool if there were creature mascots.

Oh yes, I'm also eager to see who steps up to the plate this time, and which way this year's CCSF will go. Bring on the next survey! I already have some ideas about the agents I want to submit. |

After some thought, I think I'm going to throw my hat into the ring and volunteer to be a coordinator. I'm about ready to sign off from college for a while, and although I do expect to be somewhat busy this summer I should have lots of time to plan things out regardless of when the festival winds up happening.
It's just a matter of figuring out what to put on the surveys....

One question that you might like to consider is 'what do you want to contribute to the CCSF' - it's always worthwhile to get people thinking.

So we ran this event back in 2011
CC Spirit Awards
http://creaturescaves.com/forum.php?view=1&thread=3140
It worked quite well, and Ghosthande wrote: made some really awesome GIFS for prizes.
I think it could be cool to run this again as part of the CCSF... I've been inactive for a few years... But I was really proud of this, and I think it would be cool to do it again.
Any thoughts?

I've been away for a little bit... Might have missed some things. Might I ask who took up the planning? The first survey seemed to indicate that July/August was the best time for this year's CCSF, which is right around the corner! Hope the behind-the-scenes stuff is going well!
I would be up for having another round of the CC Spirit Awards this year, TheOtherLiam!

Oh! Well, good thing I started a genetic project last night. XD Perfect timing to make it ready for CCSF this year. I missed out on the last two festivals due to moving so this should be fun.

I'd love to help with planning, but I don't think I'm ready yet to take up coordination.
I'm happy to say I'll have my Metaroom A Day Blog posting during CCSF2014, and I may start an Agent/Breed Concept a Day.
I think my craziest idea is I'd love to get a small team together to make a small metaroom with some nice quirky agents.
I would also really love to see the Audio Books done again, maybe I could redo the Cookie Ettin Story, and read a few more.
Definitely up for an individual site if possible. CCaves was nice, but I gotta agree with a couple of the voters that it was semi wonky feeling.
Oooh, and we could even get the community together to make an Animal Crossing themed metaroom, or loosely themed. More figurine/dolls and maybe a 'modular' room that allows addons to make it feel like a town, to where people could make addons for the rest of the year.

If it's in July/August then I probably won't have anything besides a pack of wolflings. I'm not working on anything amazing at the moment, or have something that's even close to being done. I've been sort of lazy this year. I would be interested in doing something like the old scribble room that a part of an older CCSF. I missed out on the first one, and it's a neat idea.

I'd had an idea for something similar to the scribble room, but swamp themed, & I had been thinking that the background parts could be made with people taking photos of actual swamps. That way people who felt they were really bad at drawings & scribbles could have a way to help out with it. Unfortunately, I just kept procrastinating so I never got it posted. ![[ngrimace] [ngrimace]](/images/smilies/emot_grimace.gif) |

Homestly it is, we could sample textures easily, use them with blending. Anyone who does pottery could cook a vase, then cut it open, and we could use the texture of the cross section for the borders.
I have weird ideas.

That is a great idea! I don't think I'd be able to help with that meta room since I don't live anywhere near a swamp. XD Perhaps the best I could offer is photos of my tarantula's terrarium for the soil and some sticks. Maybe photoshop in some water.
Grendel Man, are you still willing to be a coordinator? I don't think I could be a good coordinator but I'd be willing to help make things for the CCSF or run a wolfling run. I could also do something special with the stream and I'm certainly open to ideas.

Sort of. I really don't think I have it in me to be the main coordinator, but I'm still willing to be a member of the team and help manage things.

Well we would still need soil samplings for the surface, and side ones. Maybe we could include a little area that makes movement slow, just a bit of fun for a Giant Tarantula section ;3
I'd love to be an assistant to Coordinator or something, part of the team too. Honestly, it'd be awesome if we could get a metaroom out!

I'm afraid I can't help, I don't live anywhere near the Irish peat bogs - they're all up by Dublin, but I think this is a great idea!

We could have it to where users who aren't near a swamp are still allowed to contribute a few photos to each section. I think now I'm going to make a development topic for this.

Speaking of the swamp metaroom idea, I live near a river that varies from over-flowing to dry. Also we have lots of gravel, red dirt and mud at the moment seeing as its winter. I can take a few photos while out and about. If the idea goes any further I'd be glad to help out

I'm glad there is so much interest in the swamp metaroom idea already. I'll try to get a topic for it tomorrow.... unless someone else wants to make it... I ran out of time for it today.
I already have the rough outline of the metaroom finished, just need to figure out the actual final size of the room, & I had been thinking that if enough photos were sent in, then maybe it could end up like the biodome, where there were different background options available & you could choose between them. Since photos can be merged & blended, not all the photos sent in have to be of swamps. The non-swamp photos can be merged with the swamp photos to offer more possibilities.
Depending on when the CCSF is this year, I might not mind helping as an assistant.... it's looking like it might be more of a team than just one or two coordinators this year.... |

I'd suggest we shift focus for an October CCSF, as I don't see anyone eager to coordinate right now- nor really anyone who just can't wait to release any agents/rooms.
And I also propose an addition to the usual releases of art and addons. Since C4 is effectively nearing release, (they've been doing internal beta-testing and bug-fixing for months now, not adding new features), perhaps it would be the moment to reorganize any stuff new players might need to get into the previous games? Because there will be returning players, and people who get the premium edition with the old trilogy included (if BigBen didn't give up on that).
The Wiki would be the sensible starting point.
Any documentation and instructions more or less indepth, should be easy to find, and why not, available in different languages (like the CDN stuff, currently sort of unreadable and hidden). Lost agents should be found and pointed to or rehosted, and especially, the wiki should be able to sort them in the standard categories of food, toys, tools, etc.
I know that's not quite encyclopedic, but it's a game wiki, not just a historical record.
I don't know if it makes sense to bring this up in the festival context, but maybe we can make it into a game somehow, a "who can fix the most pages" community activity, rather than a herculean and lonely endeavor XD |

The Lost Agents is probably one of the biggest deals. With our Lost Download Detectives, we could easily search the topic whenever we need to fix a wiki's list of download links.
Maybe we could organize a game like you mentioned. A while back people mentioned the concept of trading new content for new content, such as the more fanart is made, the closer a content creator is to releasing a new agent. We could have somethig like that. Similar to kickstarters, we organize it so that we look at the broken things on the wiki, just cataloging the numbers, and space them out, and have rewards. People who sign up will make agents. The more the Wiki is fixed, or the more complete it becomes, the more stuff is released!
