Speaking as a fan of the (somewhat obscure) animated cult film "Twice Upon A Time", I'd rather like to see a Ralph Norn -- as in, Ralph, The All-Purpose Animal.
For those of you who are not familiar with the film, Ralph looks...
...like this.
And since it might be odd to see Ralph without his good pal Mumford, perhaps he could come with a Mumford doll (which should make no noise, since Mumford doesn't speak).
Here's a picture of Ralph with Mumford...
On another subject, I've always thought a Griffin Norn would be nice. I remember that someone else was talking about making one years ago, but nothing ever came of it as far as I know.
Oh, and what about a Pomerani-Norn (as in, a Norn that resembles a Pomeranian dog)? Let's face it...they look a little bit like Pomeranians as it is. The Dream Norns for C3-DS are probably the closest thing available right now, but they look more like poodles to me. |

What about a "Poop Mod" that allows Creatures to expel waste as visible poop, which in turn can help fertilize the soil. Of course poop itself would be poisonous to most Norns (excluding Toxic Norns, yuck!). |

The "Poop Mod" sounds gross but interesting and a large piece of realty to add to creatures. I'd download it at least.
Also, for my idea crossposted from the Out-of-Reach Dreams Discussion....
SCP Foundation Agent Pack
For those unaware the SCP foundation is an incredibly good collaborative creepypasta project on which I am a contributor, alibit not as "sam999." The idea of combining my interests and producing a pack of agents based around the foundation is prevented by my lack of any form of coding or spiriting skills although I hope someone might like ideas here.
Ideas:
SCP-076 - "Able"
A black box classed as "bad" big enough to hold an adult norn. If no "Able" is in the world at present it opens and releases an adult male one. An "Able" norn is a genetic breed with porcelain norn sprites, a reddish-brown color shift and an invisible agent following it about injecting it with anger, keeping it healthy, preventing it from breeding and dropping pointless little black weapons about which vanish themselves after a few seconds.
SCP-131 - The "Eye Pods"
A pair of toys that reduce loneliness and follow your norns about. Can use doors to move about the starship.
SCP-173 - The "Sculpture"
When not looked at by a norn "I.E. the green arrow is over it" or on your screen at the same time you are it teleports about the room attacking Creatures. Can use doors but only move for a limited distance at a time to give norns a chance. Don't Blink.
SCP-217 - The Clockwork Virus
A virus which deliberately introduces repetitive behavior to infected creatures as well as having tiny bits of gears and clockwork junk spring up using the "CA Clothing" style thing.
SCP-426 - I am a Toaster
I am a portable vendor for toast whom creatures will refer to in the first person. Unlike how I am mentioned on the SCP foundation site I am harmless.
SCP-753 - Automatic Artist
A toy. If pushed makes paintings, smaller toys which vanish after a few minutes. You can tell I like this SCP, its picture is my avatar.
SCP-1867 - A Gentleman
A toy. If pushed will start telling "in a nornlike speech bubble" a story of one of his many adventures. Sometimes crawls about on his own. |

Since people have successfully created Borg Norns for C2 and are working on a C3-DS version, how about a Tron Norn? It might be either partially mechanical like the Borg Norns or perhaps even wholly mechanical -- a nornoid? -- like Data from Star Trek (even though the programs in the Tron universe are, strictly speaking, digital rather than mechanical). It's not as if it would be the only Norn breed that has trouble mating with other breeds, after all...Toxic Norns have that problem because of their unique biochemistry. It could have glowing neon/plasma stripes on a silvery-grey body as well as glowing eyes -- perhaps blue for males and pink for females (or whatever color scheme you prefer) -- and the brightness of the neon stripes would fade slightly with age as the colors on most C2 and C3-DS norns do. |

The CAOS Documentation wrote: NEW: CRAG (command) family (integer) gene_agent (agent) gene_slot (integer) sex (integer) variant (integer) sprite_file (string) image_count (integer) first_image (integer) plane (integer)
Makes a non-skeletal creature. The first five arguments are the same as NEW: CREA. The last four, starting from the sprite file, are exactly as in NEW: COMP.
First thing that came into my mind when I've read about those Tron Norns. It basically creates exactly what the idea says. An object which merges the advantages of agent and creature.

As I was describing the Tron Norns earlier today, a strange idea occurred to me...
Since the germ cells of an organism (the ones which govern reproduction) are basically nothing more than an extraordinarily complex combination of elements and molecules, what's to say that an entirely synthetic or biomechanical lifeform might not eventually be able to reproduce in much the same way that organic lifeforms do provided that the technology was sufficiently advanced -- especially in the area of nanotechnology? Perhaps the Tron Norns are the creation of a Shee in some far-flung future who fell through a time warp and brought with him the Tron Norns or Nornoids, highly-advanced automotons which look and function much like the extinct (in his time) ancient species called norns. |

If creatures were capable of telling species' eggs apart (I think it's really a bit of an oversight that they can't) I'd totally make a cuckoo Grendel that eats Norn eggs and leaves Grendel ones in its place. Maybe the Grendel gets reclassified as a Norn using CAOS trickery, so the Norns don't get wise to it. It also looks like a Norn. If anyone can figure out how to implement this feel free to steal the idea... |

Here's another idea I had, a "live birth" chemical/code/mutation.
In essence, one of the unused chemicals means that if a pregnant creature comes to term with it in their body, rather than laying an egg they give birth to live young. Creatures could either be GMed or mutate to do so.
Inspired by some thoughts about how zeppelin grendels might work, assuming I had coding skills to make them, developed into a whole new idea for a game improvement.
Also, some kind of pine tree plant which grows in layers like bamboo, each smaller than the one below it. |

I was just thinking of something similar to Feddlefew's life support idea, but instead of just injecting them with chemicals or making them sleep it could graph the health of vital organs and graph and inject chemicals. It could also do everything that Feddlefew said, of course (feed, put to sleep, etc.) but it would all be in a handy pop-out menu for easy access, and there would be C1 and C2 medicines. I want it to have special animations for each action (for example, giving the creature a wake-up pill inserts a tube into the creature's mouth, and the pill slides down the tube) but that would require the agent reading the body data of the creature. |

I'd like to see a C3 Norn breed rendered with the ears and tail style of the Brown Mouse Norns, but still actually look like a C3 Norn. I may try this if I can get my hands on a sprite set...
Oh yeah, and my little sister has been nagging me to find a way to make the C3 Grendels nice by default. She's developed an obsession with them!

Elevators which monitor if a norn is suffering from EE syndrome.
If a DS elevator is in contact with a norn for a long period of time, and the norn is not being carried by the elevator, then it might be suffering from EE syndrome. The elevator would then encourage the norn to express, which would often break it out of the I-can't-think thing that they do.

Done. However it seems to have a bug: the aging life events don't add scrollbars. I suspect the problem is a botched if statement somewhere. Could anyone take a look at it for me? |

Here's an idea I had bouncing around for a while, but had no real way of bringing to life:
Updated versions of the C1 + C2 breeds. Anyone who's used the C1/C2toC3 breeds might notice an oddity with them: when they face the camera, they have only one position: standing up. On the other hand, the breeds native to C3/DS can lie down, look up, etc. when facing the camera.
Basically, I'd like to see some C1/C2 breeds with these extra sprites added, so they too can move when facing the camera/looking away from the camera.

Is that a sprite issue, Grendel_Man?
Anyway, I got fascinated with the poo idea. I actually had the same idea back when planning Creatures Orbis, if anyone remembers that project (darn shame almost everyone dropped out). Poo would lead to a more realistic version. Bacteria, soil nutrition, perhaps edibility which would lead to illness, bad smell and even very heightened crowded feelings when a norn or ettin (but perhaps not grendel) needs to go, would make this an awesome mod. |

Yeah, it's a sprite issue. A C3/DS sprite issue, to be specific - the extra poses when facing the camera that are in C3/DS aren't coded into the engine in C1 and C2.
Here's a picture of what I mean in C3/DS. If that was a standard C3 grendel, it would most likely be lying down.

Oh yeah. There are no proper images of the C1/C2 bodies leaning forward when looking at the camera. You'd need to fix both sprites and atts to make that one work... |

I would like to see a mod where norns can tell breeds apart and maybe 95% of the time breed with their own type. So hybrids would be rare and different norn communities could live and interact with each other, but stick to their own species when it came to breeding. Kind of like similar species of birds, fish, etc. which can breed with other close species, sub-species, or breeds but usually don't. I know there's alot to it, but something sort of like this would be so awsome! |

I had an idea for a metaroom that is Alice in Wonderland based. I got the idea after reading the book and I was wondering if it would be possible to make, like the metaroom would have a vendor shaped like a table that would vend a bottle saying drink me, but since norns don't shrink it would be anti-bacterial. Then the creatures could play with card soldiers and once interacted with they would run to a different spot. Then there could be an Alice toy that changes size when interacted with or The Mad Hatter could be at a table and it would be a vendor for tea or food. Is it possible or has i already been done?

A genome of norns that can 'pass out' if they get tired enough. Unless you have insomnia or FFI, you would probably pass out once your sleep debt got high enough. It makes sense for the same thing to happen to norns.

A new breed, the "Ant Norns" (can either be a genetic or regular breed). Essentially the females are pretty much just regular Norns, but they enjoy living in large groups and are very social. Males on the other hand are very short-lived at around thirty minutes, and their only purpose is to mate with the females. They are also fast-agers.
I might actually make this as a genetic breed myself one day for Creatures 2. Currently my only proper genetic breed for C2 is the Hip-Hop Grendels.

Today whilst searching the internet, I came across an Audio Tutu, a piece of electro-acoustic clothing that registers the movement of the dancer that wears it and generates sound accordingly.
Perhaps if somebody made one for Creatures, a creature could wear it and it would play a different tune whenever the creature moves? It would be pretty cool! |

I want a real audio tutu! (I imagine it would be slightly more delightful on someone who can actually dance though). Like a theremin, but frillier.
(A theremin wouldn't be a bad idea for a musical instrument either for Creatures. Has somebody even already made one?) |

Sounds good. How about this: the blood is classified as detritus, and if the Norn is ill, whatever toxins and bacteria it had will be transmitted from coming in contact with the blood. However, it also contains some nutrients, and can be eaten. |

Silverpelt wrote: I have a ton and a half of ideas. Off the top of my head I can think of at least 10 different plants I'd like to add, and one metaroom to grow everything in.
Since I'm not that active in the community any more and I know we have some great people out there still I figure now is as Good of time as any to share the ideas I had so long ago.
Metaroom
This is an unnamed metaroom I had wanted to build. The idea behind it was that it would be an area where one could grow large amounts of different foods for their creatures.
Zone 1: High Light, Open Air. Great place to plant trees or other larger plants.
Zone 2: High Light, Small Space. This was to be a good area to grow smaller plants or flowers.
Zone 3: Sandy soil, low light, what would be the area where one could grow hardy root vegetables, like carrots, parsnips, onions, and potatoes.
Zone 4: Water reservoir/storage. Basically a small area to store extra seeds at, as well as grow a few aquatic plants.
Zone 5: Bramboo Jungle. This area was designed solely to allow bramboo to grow to it's tallest.
Plants
I had a large number of real world oddity plants I had wanted to add. Starting with the purple carrots, and going on to cover things like blue potatoes, Glass Gem Corn(originally blue and red corn), Cucumbers & melons on trellis, and many more. Some of which could be tossed in a fire agent and turned into a more nutritious food source.
Anyone is welcome to take these ideas and make them. I have no plans to start or even finish them currently, and short of someone making an automated Tool to create simple plants for creatures I don't see myself making them. |

Together with the blood mod, add a cannibalism mod that allows dead creatures to be eaten. Might be an idea to age restrict the download, though, but it would add realism to it if a grendel didn't just beat a norn to death, but also ate his prey. |

The problem is that you can only read the head-sprites of a creature. All other parts can not be detected.
So you'd either need generic body parts which are made in such a manner that they usually suit, or you make it a la Highlander (the movie) and just let em chop off the heads of each other.
