Some time last year, I was twiddling with the C3 rocklice to make them edible. Embri also requested that I make them a bit more robust as a species, as her norns decimated the rocklice population. While the edible rocklice should be fine, I've made a breedable edible rocklice file. I'm not sure it quite strikes the right balance in edibility vs. population of rocklice. Would appreciate more opinions. :) Would also like feedback on the usefulness of the readme file included.

The file can be downloaded here Thank you :)

Well, my creatures always do so fine, that I can leave them alone. (Lol, they have fired me. Hand out of work XD)
I will test them.

EDIT: Ok, my 8 Norns living in the jungle eat sometimes one or two of the rocklice, but the population stays up. I think even more Norns would not really harm them.
At the moment is the breedable_edible_rocklice.cos in use.

Part of the thing with the rocklice is that there is an invisible 'rocklice mother' that constantly spits them out. Are they surviving because they're being spat out, or are they breeding on their own without aid from the rocklice mother? Do you need to regularly make more wasps from the Grendel Seed Bank to feed the rocklice? (and thus the mystery of 'why five wasps from the Grendel Seed Bank Update' is solved! :) )

In the early days of testing, let's just say there was a "Draconian edition" of the file, which thankfully seems to have been lost.

Isn't it possible to just sequester a group of the rocklice in a different terrarium for your test? That way you can see how well they get along without worrying about the rocklice spawner skewing your results. Or am I wrong?

it's pretty hard to feed the rocklice in the Norn Meso, the trappers keep on competing with them. If the rocklice don't eat pests, they hibernate/lay in wait underground where they can't be eaten. The rocklice mother should only spit out more rocklice if your norns eat them to extinction. If things are working to plan, you may be able to see an egg or two around if you're lucky, and you should have a population of greater than three rocklice. If you've never seen a rocklouse egg before, there's a picture on the Cwiki page.

At the moment I jected all bugs out of the jungle, except those black dots (don't know their cosfile).

I will now try to keep them alone with a few PSTs from the Toxic norn pack in the desert.
When they stay alive after that, I will release some edited Draconian norns on them that eat "beast" and not "critter".

EDIT: They can not eat anything except the things from the Jungle O.o I better start a new world.

With your new cosfile of you I just saw the opposite. One of my norns picked up a digged Rocklice and ate that...

ANOTHER EDIT: Hmm, I started now a new world. I kept all critters and bugs and whatever in the game. After putting a few wasps and mosquitos into the desert, the Rocklice grew there too.
But in both, Jungle and Desert, I saw that: when a norn sometimes eats one or two rocklice, everything is fine, but when there are 6 baby Draconian Norns in a single room, the Rocklice have no chance and their last hope is the Rocklice-Mother you told about...

The only things that the rocklice can eat are "pests" (2 14 0) or "bugs" (2 13 0).

Would you be interested in a 'draconian edition' of the file?

Hmm, I tried to feed them, as I told, PSTs. The Rocklice did their I-caught-and-ate.it animation, but the PST did not vanish. The same happened sometimes (not always) with the Balloon Bugs.

A Draconian Edition would be possibly good. The Draconians I had died all because of poisons they got from "push beast".

What's a PST? Could you please upload a male-female pair of the draconians you altered to TCR so that I can use them in my world for testing?

I've also made a "slappable mosquito" file (available above), which makes your creatures able to hit the mosquito and have the mosquito die from being hit. I'm sure your creatures would find your use of the file to be a marked improvement in the game. ;)

With PSTs I mean all three, PST-001 Trapdoor Bouncer, PST-002 Trapdoor Slinker and PST-003 Hoverhook Bouncer. They are in the Toxic Norn Pack and classified as "bug". While the Trapdoor Bouncer and the Trapdoor Slinker are just pretty to watch, the Hoverhook Bouncer is excellent for Norn Torture. I tried to feed them to your Rocklice, but they did not want to vanish after eating, so I though it didn't work.

I just used some normal Draconians, teached them speaking with the MultiAgent-Gold and permanently told them "eat beast"...

The slappable mosquitos sound good, too. I hate that little flying monsters. As I said I played first DS, then C3, so I had some problems with them ^^

I've made another tweak - I've changed the stickleback trout so that they can eat fruit, seeds and food as well as pests and bugs. I keep on feeding mine, so I don't know how well it works under wolfling conditions. Any takers?
