Creatures Caves

So I loved these games as a kid and was always online reading and downloading everything I could find to do with them. This would have been when the games first came out.
I remember reading a fanfic - I don't remember where I found it. I'm not really into fanfiction, and I have no reason to believe it was particularly good or anything, but I'd just be interested to see if it still exists on the internet somewhere. I think I remember my parents reading it and saying it was written like a kid wrote it?
All I remember is that the norns were really scared of the gene splicing machine. I think there was a male norn and a female norn at the centre of the story. The story ended with the female norn being fatally injured somehow - presumably a grendel attack or something - and being taken to the gene splicer. The female norn (and presumably another norn since that's how the gene splicer worked in the game?) was then sort of sacrificed and 'reborn' through the splicing process. This made the other norn(s) stop seeing the splicer as a scary evil thing and see it as an amazing thing that creates new life.
Bit of a long shot but I thought I'd ask!
