Stories and art are good too, I'll look forward to seeing what you come up with Norniff. Be sure to let me know if you've got a specific release day in mind
Since this thread's hit a new page and a few people on Ctopia have requested days I figured I'd just repost the calendar on this page:
* November 1st (Sunday) - CCSF begins, C3's 10th Anniversary, Amaikokonut's Time Capsule Event opens, nornloverian's poem/speech is released, (nothing else scheduled yet)
* November 2nd (Monday) - (nothing scheduled yet)
* November 3rd (Tuesday) - Ghosthande's tutorial is released, (nothing else scheduled yet)
* November 4th (Wednesday) - (nothing scheduled yet)
* November 5th (Thursday) - c1anddsaddict's release day (nothing else scheduled yet)
* November 6th (Friday) - (nothing scheduled yet)
* November 7th (Saturday) - (nothing scheduled yet)
* November 8th (Sunday) - (nothing scheduled yet)
* November 9th (Monday) - Ghosthande's release day (nothing else scheduled yet)
* November 10th (Tuesday) - (nothing scheduled yet)
* November 11th (Wednesday) - (nothing scheduled yet)
* November 12th (Thursday) - (nothing scheduled yet)
* November 13th (Friday) - Ringo Starrscream's release day (nothing else scheduled yet)
* November 14th (Saturday) - CCSF comes to a close, Amaikokonut's Time Capsule Event closes (nothing scheduled yet)
As I said on Ctopia, everybody else please note that if you also want to release on the 5th that's fine, just so long as there aren't too many of you.
Oh! I almost forgot to cross-post this, it looks like we've got a site for this year's CCSF too. Check out this thread the see a mock-up of what it will look like.
Also in CCSF news, I've gone from 'unofficial organizer' to 'official organizer', and am looking for people to help me. Post in this thread or right here on Ccaves if you feel that you can help me organize and run this year's CCSF. |

Ummmm... I don't really know, Malkin! I didn't expect anybody to have anything ready just yet...
I guess the obvious thing to have people do would be to just e-mail entries to me - to those of you who don't know, my e-mail address is Lukekul@gmail.com.
Have the subject of your e-mail read 'CCSF 2009' (so that it's easier for me to keep track of them all), and along with your entry please be sure to include any instructions, back-story, help files or any other details that you want mentioned in the release post.
Please also be sure to specify the day that you would like your content to be released on if you have a preference for that sort of thing, otherwise your work will be released whenever it suits the CCSF schedule (ie: on whichever days have the least releases/events scheduled). |

Cheers. It was mentioned earlier about submitting creatures to TCR with the tag CCSF09 - are youse are still interested in using TCR for the CCSF?

Wait, so, say I want to send something for CCSF 2009, and I send it to you with the date, via e-mail?
I have a long poem/speech, I'm interested in sending it in for the first day, maybe as an opening entry. Like a theory/summary about time itself.
My instructions are likely to involve that the poem is not meant to offend anyone, just that it's like how to describe time.
I may have other things to give for CCSF.

I don't quite remember where that was mentioned but it sounds like a good idea to me
Yes, if people have creatures that they'd like to submit for the CCSF then they are welcome to upload them to The Creatures Repository (remember to use the tag CCSF09!), and in turn we'll be sure to provide a link to it/remind people about it on the CCSF site.
nornloverian wrote: Wait, so, say I want to send something for CCSF 2009, and I send it to you with the date, via e-mail?
Yes, e-mail me anything that you plan to release for this year's CCSF (again, please write 'CCSF 09' in the subject field) and tell me the date that you'd like to release it on.

As long as your poem isn't actually offensive I'm sure it'll be fine, but I can add a small warning like that in the front of your poem/speech if you like.
nornloverian wrote: I may have other things to give for CCSF.
Of course! Everybody, please don't feel that you can only submit one thing for the CCSF, feel free to put together as many or as few releases as you like

It might be better if we used the "Group" functionality for TCR submissions for the CCSF. How will the TCR submissions be handled on the CCSF website? I'd be happy to try to keep an extra eye on TCR submissions - there are 20 slots, can we fill them all in a day?

I'm not entirely sure Malkin, as I hadn't thought of it until I read your earlier post. My initial thought was to have a link to the TCR search results page for creatures with the CCSF09 tag up in a highly visible part of the CCSF website and to keep mentioning it every couple of days, but do you think that there's a better way to do it?
Also, forgive me if this is a stupid question (it's been a long time since I last used TCR myself...), but what would be the difference between submitting creatures as a group and using tags?
Housekeeping crosspost update: I've started up a calendar thread on Creaturetopia, just so that it's easier for me and everybody else to keep track of dates. I'll continue to edit the calendar here too, but honestly I think that the Ctopia one makes for easier reading, so check it out if you can. |

I haven't seen the website design as I am not a member of Creaturetopia, but I gather there is a sidebar of some sort - an "Adoptions" link there might be appropriate?
Last time I spoke to ElasticMuffin, I mentioned the possibility of using TCR for the CCSF. He said that he created the groups system on TCR so that we could use them for events such as the CCSF. Any further questions as to the merits of groups vs. tags would be better addressed to him.
Yay, six days with releases already!

Ugh, I forgot that only members could view attachments to posts on Ctopia, sorry about that...
Here's a screenshot of the website, information about which can be viewed in the thread mentioned a few posts back. Releases will be listed in boxes on the left hand side (where the Twitter box is), and I was thinking we'd put a link with a note about CCSF 09 creatures being available on TCR there somewhere.
Guess I'm off to PM ElasticMuffin now to ask about groups vs tags |

Thanks, 3kul. I've been telling myself to look at the bright side by thinking 'the site design will be a wonderful and exciting surprise!', but actually seeing it is way more exciting!

It's quite simple, really. The group method allows you to make a link like this: http://tcr.diagonalfish.net/creatures.php?group=CSSF09 which will bring up all of the creatures that are in the CCSF09 group. You enter the group in the group box, just like you would enter a tag, while submitting.
I prefer the use of a group rather than a tag for this because the tags are generally intended for information about the creature itself, not why it was posted. Groups fill the "I posted this norn during <an event>" niche nicely.
I guess if everyone would like to use TCR I am going to have to fight my way back into my own news script, which hasn't worked since I changed hosting a year ago. >_>
Can I add that I really like the site design a lot?

ElasticMuffin, are you a mind-reader?
Thanks for explaining all of that for me and for saving me the trouble of PMing you (my computer froze up last night, as it often does, so I figured I'd leave it until today... but now I don't have to! ). Sounds like groups are the way to go!
Thanks for the compliments about the site too, though all of the credit goes to Ringo Starrscream (who, according to their signature on Ctopia, goes by the following names as well: Starscream, the care train & gryph)
EDIT: Crossposting answers to the following useful questions:
Amaikokonut wrote: Is there a set due date for submissions?
As soon as you have something ready, we'll accept it - the earlier you submit it, the better. There's no due date for submissions as we're already so close to the CCSF start date, but if we get to the last weeks of October and we still haven't received anything from you after you told us you'd have something ready then you can bet that we'll be chasing you up about it.
Amaikokonut wrote: will there be a method for handling late submissions?
The latest that you can submit something is obviously the day that you've set aside for your release day. That said, if you feel for whatever reason that you can't make your promised release day please let us know as soon as possible. We can always change your release day, and if we have somebody who's already submitted their work we could even switch your release day with theirs (provided that this is okay with them).
We would really prefer to avoid cancellations if it's at all possible. If you can see that you aren't going to have your release ready in time for this year's CCSF, please do not feel that you have nothing to submit. A screenshot or some concept art of your agent/metaroom/breed/whatever in action or a snippet of a poem/story/artwork or even just a short description and a new release date is far better than nothing at all.
Amaikokonut wrote: what if we submit something, then change it and want to send in an updated version?
No problem! Just e-mail me the updated version as you would have the original release and mention that you'd like to replace the original with this newer version. |

I don't really think my poem is that offensive, but, if there is anyone who is religious, or extremely religious, then a warning would be something I should put, because, the poem does speak of how time is applied, including bits of evolution, and things about how evolution and time can apply to religion and such.

Doesnt bug me,just as long as nothing is asserted as definately fact or fiction. Keep in mind that no matter what, theories with a similar nature to evolution cannot be proven.

It's not really saying that it's fact or fiction, more like, a definition, or a general idea on time.
It's not really a poem, more like, philosophy, or observations.
Part of it will be about creatures itself, and about time.
I may even do a creatures time line!

I know I shouldn't worry, I just wondered just in case.
In all honesty, I find it highly unlikely that anyone who is highly religious or would find my poem offensive, would actually be playing the Creatures game series, and/or that they'd be on one of the creatures forums.
Then again, it's possible.

Indeed. Given that the concept of Creatures is pretty much built on the concept of watching evolution happen on your computer screen, it's safe to say that anyone who plays the game will have a thick enough skin to not take it that seriously.
Religion can indeed be a touchy subject, but seeing how many religions are actually out there, I'd think that unless you're pointing out one specifically it shouldn't matter.

That's pretty much what I mean ghosthande, it's very unlikely, given pretty much EVERYTHING, about creatures.
Yeah, it kinda just says how religion, culture, and such have changed and evolved over time. I don't think I mentioned much about a specific religion, if any.

Also I think I'll do a joke interview for CCSF 2009.
GUESS WHO I'M INTERVIEWING?!?!?
Hint, I'm interviewing my own interviewer.
If you did not understand,
Hint: I'm interviewing myself.
It may sound awkward, but I'm going to try to make it kinda like a comedy, besides, I talk to myself enough to know what to talk about, and when I speak my thoughts out loud, I get funny results....
