STORY
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Lone Shee looked down at his latest discovered planet through the viewport
and shook his head. How could he have known what was down there? Did the people
who lived there REALLY expect nobody to open that mysterious numbered hatch just
because they wrote "WARNING: EXTREME DANGER" on it in large red letters and closed
it with a giant lock protected by an explosive device? If that were the case, why
didn't they design the lock or the explosives better?

His mind still frantically played back the events of the past few minutes over
and over... "I'm safe at least... wish I could say the same for those poor
Hardmen... I'll have to splice more when I get the chance..."

The THINGS that swarmed out of that hatch, too many to count... He still got chills
thinking about them. "They weren't NATURAL..." Their eyes haunted him the most...
Black, like bottomless pits, yet there was something THERE... Deep... A horrible, cold,
calculating intelligence that seemed to cry out for his soul. It would devour him if
it could, he knew that...

He had been almost paralyzed by their gaze... Only at the last minute was he able to
activate the teleporter, and that only because he was snapped out of his trance by the
last desperate shouts of the two Hardman Norns he had taken with him. "They were my very
finest, and they never stood a chance! Those things COULDN'T have been Grendels..."
He tried to remember the details... It was like recalling a fever dream...
The creatures had almost the look of the horrible red eyed half-grendelish half-nightmare
thing he had caught a glimpse of when rescuing the Siamese Norns, but these were much
darker in color, and much more vicious, but still had that air of malevolent yet slightly
familiar intelligence that made his skin crawl, in fact even more so, if possible.
He didn't even dare to imagine the implications of that...

"Ah well..." He shook himself out of it. "I'm safe now..." he thought... "Research goes on."
At least he had managed to rescue those two mysterious eggs he had found on the planet.
They didn't look like any Grendel Eggs he had ever seen, so he decided that they must belong
to yet another undiscovered type of Norn. "Surely these will be happy I rescued them...
I can't wait to see what they look like..."

GENOME NOTES
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
These grendels are my first attempt at a Grendel breed.
They are based off of a heavily modified Hardman Norn Genome that includes
the latest CFF fixes (0.6) along with many more edits and tweaks to adapt it to
Grendels and make them behave more 'grendely'. These are extremely smart,
violent, and dangerous, and will give even the toughest and meanest norns a
serious fight. They seem to need a little encouragement to breed in my tests,
but not much... get them together and tell them to push and they should have
an egg with a vicious little monster inside ready in no time. I recommend
having some 'Norn Plushies' around... they enjoy kicking them around almost as
much as real norns, and it will give them something to do after they kill every
norn on your ship.

CFF creatures are part of an ongoing project to improve the C3 Genomes
and to fix many of the problems they have, such as incomplete reactions
and unused neurons, stimuli, and words. The goal is to put in everything
that was missing from previous games and more, to allow them to live up
to the full potential of the C3 game engine and the creatures' more
sophisticated brains and biochemistry.

They include Vampess' CFE Fixes, as well as others, which are detailed
in the project thread at:

http://www.creaturescaves.com/forum.php?view=12&thread=5575

Genetics Note: These creatures are currently genetically compatible with any
creatures based on the CFE genome, but that may change as the project goes on.
Any genetic imcompatibilities will be noted in the readme files and the thread.

Note: I recommend not crossbreeding or splicing these with other CFF-based creatures,
as they can get misplaced genes and serious genetic problems, since CFF is still in
development and testing, and genes and even entire organs may have moved since I started
work on it. Any other CFE-based creatures should be fine though.
