Zoran Norns   C3DS   Spykkie | 9/25/2013  log in to like post  16

typeGenetics + Sprites
Years ago, I saw a drawing someone made of a Zora Norn breed concept! Sadly, the author's site and sketch vanished; and the breed never came to be... So I made my own!! :D

Now includes egg agent!

Breed Information:
- This breed takes up Geat slot Z.
- The Zoran Norns are Colortrue Norns.
- The Zoran Norns are an amphibious breed from birth, but the babies look better in the water.
- This breed visually undergoes "full body metamorphosis" to reach adulthood.
- The Zoran Norn breed has its own egg sprite.

NOTE: They also have the swim bladder organ from the Astro Tetras. Credit goes to KittyTikara.

Many, many thanks to ylukyun who did the genetic stuff and is still helping with possible CCSF-related release(s)!

Tip for everyone looking for the babies' butts:
The butt is in the exact same place as regular norns... it's just invisible!

The truth is that what you see are the head and tail while everything else is just 100% pure black, so you can't see it. That baby butt is down there, you'll see the icon when you hover over it. XD

I'm pretty good at bending the rules to make impressive looking breeds without having to spend years on reprogramming all the poses... ;D Well, it's more like using the rules to my advantage, really. There's just about nothing you can't accomplish when you understand the materials you're working with. (vuv)b

(I'm trying to think of a way to signal the butt with out having it look off. Suggestions are welcome concidring: TADPOLES >n<; )

If I make them, they definitely will.
KittyTikara | 9/26/2013  log in to like post

That would seriously be amazing, especially if they kept the swim bladder organ.

Good idea mea. I could also do a non-Colortrue version. It wouldn't have all the bells and whistles, but it would be something you could use for crossbreeding.

A tip to always slap a Norn, press and hold delete on your keyboard and you'll always slap them.

Them being Colortrue is sort of annoying too. I like the Colortrue Norns, but they are annoying to add to a wolfling run full of regular creatures, if my Grendel run is anything to go by. Still, they look really good, and hybrids look amazing with the tails. If they were in another breed slot, I'd probably add them to a Deep Norn world, mixes between the two will have to look interesting.

As a possible idea for v2, maybe it would be possible to have this breed available in two different slots for those who want to keep the draconians & have this breed as well?
kezune | 9/26/2013  log in to like post

Well. Good thing I wasn't into Draconians to begin with. XD

EDIT: I have nearly died of joy upon importing these guys into my game.

Thanks for the suggestions. There will be a V2 at some point so keep 'em coming.

After some testing I have some brief suggestions:

Stimuli that punish norns for hitting. Because of the way they are, you have no idea where their butt is, so you can't slap them when you need to without guesswork and the possibility of accidentally tickling them instead and them associating the slapping with something else entirely. This prevents them from becoming slap-happy due to un-slappable butts. SSN helps with identifying the slapper as they have no arms, but being unable to stop the slappiness itself when it starts kind of bugs me.

Also, the heads on ancients are slightly detached.

That's about it though. They're super adorable.

Edit: One more thing. I noticed they do a lot of swimming in one direction but not actually moving. I'm not sure why this happens or if it can be tackled. It normally happens close to floors or ceilings of rooms, so i'm assuming there's invisible boundaries they just can't cross for some reason or another. It could just be the swimming agent?

=D Good! I already love this breed. Time to put them to the test.
