Glaurung looked in the mirror in horror. A tear rolled down his cheek, but he dashed it away angrily. Were his grand ambitions going to end like his uncle Smaug's? Was he to die before he had done anything, the victim of a short lifespan? No! His son must carry on his work after he was dead! Glaurung took the egg up in his arms and whispered to it "You will follow your destiny to the end, and you shall succeed were I have failed!" | |||||||||||||||||||

The village was soon taken, the ettinchis occupying it too frightened to do anything but flee. Glaurung strode through the ruins to the house that had been that of the leader. He entered and looked about himself, savouring his first victory. He sat down and concentrated, willing every part of him to make the transformation, to become a Dragonchi. Nothing happened.
