I have three cats!
Well technically the boys are my mom's cats but she seems to consider them mine now.
Magic (left) and Midnight (right) are about a year and a half old now.
Flora is my baby girl and is about 11 years old now.
The boys are very playful and love sleeping in boxes. Flora is really chill... and used to be a lil fatty until the boys started chasing her around. Magic is madly in love with her but she aint having none of that. xD Strong independent kitty who don't need no man.
The boys are very social and love people. Well. The People they know. They vanish into the back of the house on holidays. But they love us all very much! Midnight even talks to me. Magic talks to my brother. Flora meows at me a lot now too though.
Between my love of cookies, tea, and the observation of genetics in nature I'm practically a Shee. |

I currently have four cats and a dog living at home.
I got Eddie for my 21st birthday, over a year since my twelve-year old dog Zack had to be put to sleep. He's a Jack Russell/Husky cross and turned one in September.
Ember, Buttons and Princess and Oscar(top to bottom) are our cats. Ember, Buttons and Princess all turned seven on the 5th of November and are all siblings. We got Oscar in 2013 after the other member of the litter, Neo, had to be put down because he got a blood clot in his back. |

So cute! We actually call calicos tortiseshells over here, but I'm not sure what the terminology is in the USA.
And we did have a tortiseshell cat from 2002 - 2003. Sadly she got out at some point and got hit by a car. We didn't find out his until 2011 when the mother of our cats also got hit. |

Over here, Flora is what we call tortoiseshells. Calicos are what calico was.
They're the same thing pretty much though. And it's very rare for male cats to be torties or calicos. If someone DOES have a male of either one, its because they have XXy chromosomes.

I'll just toss in the pictures of our dog Teddy. We got him August 2015, when he was 5 years old. We adopted him from the neighbors of grandma.
Poor guy... It was a non-married couple. She didn't want a dog, he got a dog just to tease her. At first Teddy got the "aww, just let him do, he's still small" treatment, later he was beaten when he did something wrong (which he never got taught). Poor pupper, when we freshly got him, he always ducked away when I did as little as picking up a plastic cup or the TV remote....
Luckily it got better. Now I can even gently bonk him with empty soda bottles (you know, the ones made from that soft, super thin plastic) and he just looks at me like "eeeyy, what do you want?"
There were other bad things happening, too. The owner apparently was pretty harsh during walks, in the rare cases he wasn't just sent into the garden.
He was tossed into the pool at least once as well, almost drowning when his fur got soaked. Needless to say he's still scared of water.
In the end, the couple broke up. The guy tried to take the dog with him, but he didn't get along with the cats of his new girlfriend. What a surprise, the dog doesn't get a long with cats when you teach him to chase cats out of the garden...
Anyway, in the end he dumped Teddy off at his ex-girlfriend, grandma's neighbor, who never wanted him in the first place. She was about to put him on eBay when we finally rescued him.
Now we try to take good care of him.
He doesn't seem to miss his old owners, not even when we freshly got him. The female former owner is pretty false, acting like she'd miss him soooooo much.....
Lets play plants! Photosynthesis... Photosynthesis... Photosynthesis... |

Figured I'd bump this topic since I do have a new pet I'd like to talk about.
Lately I've been watching AntsCanada, a channel about antkeeping. Thanks to that, I've decided I wanted to get into antkeeping myself. Dad was nice enough to let me try.
And just last Friday, I caught myself a queen ant. These are pictures from when I first caught her and when I moved her into a test tube setup, but she's still doing fine now. She's even laying eggs, with gives me hope that she'll give me a colony.
Her species is Camponotus subbarbatus, a medium-sized carpenter ant species. I didn't think she was a carpenter ant at first; carpenter ant queens are normally a bit larger than she is. Sadly there's not a lot of information on the care of this specific species, but I've heard carpenter ants in general are a perfect beginner's species so hopefully she's not too different from the norm.
