Dunno if there's a still active game thread anywhere, but I haven't seen a thread about my other obsession yet, so I'm gonna make it! I just went up for the Shadows over Innistrad prerelease this last weekend. Did two headed giant with the boyfriend and then by myself on Sunday. My friend who plays magic but rarely plays in events actually came with us because original Innistrad was where magic was when she started playing and she got second place with her boyfriend, which was awesome. We did ok with two headed giant, I played UG with Startled Awake as the main wincon (and actually won off that a few times) and he played BW vampires. When we went by ourselves I got an Avacyn, Nahiri and two Odrics in my pool and I figured it was a sin not to go RW so I did and I did ok, probably could have done better if I hadn't made a few dumb mistakes. I also play so much commander. I have over 20 decks. It's kind of my favorite format. So, are there any fellow planeswalkers or past planeswalkers out there? Do not upset the ugly worm, lest it be a dragon in disguise. (>oo)> |

Played from Invasion till Larwind (or whatever the kithkin one was called). Cant stand that they added planeswalkers and mythic rares. Miss playing (trading perhaps more) sometimes, but all the old dudes I played with have moved and my commander deck scares the kiddies at the local game shop who think Ravnica is old... "Get him! He has old cards!" literally happened the last time I tried to play... |

I have a pretty nice collection of cards on MTGO, though Ravnica was around the last set I actually collected much of... My collection is mostly 7th-8th edition and the blocks around there... IPA, OTJ onto the first mirrodin, rav, etc... One of the decks I made that I'm most proud of (I actually got a compliment on it from a master who played in Worlds) was a black and green one I called 'Bug Food' and it involved summoning elves, feeding them to bugs, and getting all kinds of sick effects from the sacrifices and the various comes in play, leaves play, return from graveyard, and grave pact effects... constantly killing or forcing sacrifice of anything the enemy made while buffing my stuff, and finally killing him with huge bugs. (Elf decks were also especially annoying at the time, so I loved the idea of a deck that had Elves in it just as fodder..) I also had a really fun and decent deck based on Aladdin... Singleton, 5 colors control, djinni as the only creatures, 9 artifacts that represented treasures Aladdin is looking for, including silly cards like flying carpet and Aladdin's ring, and versatile one-of spells that represented various favors from the Djinn, including 3 wishes. I really liked that deck, it was so thematic and all the one-ofs made it play differently every time, yet it almost always seemed to pull out what it needed to win. I like Commander too. As a big fan of black and green and those kind of life and death effects, Savra, Queen of the Golgari from Ravnica was one of my favorite commanders.
