We have topics about music and film/TV, so why not have one about books as well? Tell us about which books you're currently reading! :)

I read a lot of books on my iPad, before I go to sleep at night, as well as the paperbacks I find at the charity shop where I work, so I always seem to have several different ones on the go. Currently I'm reading:

Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy by Helen Fielding
No More Tomorrows by Schappelle Corby
Hard Time: A Brit in America's Toughest Jail by Shaun Attwood
Shopaholic Abroad by Sophie Kinsella
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams
Single White E-mail by Jessica Adams
The Rotter's Club by Jonathan Coe

I just finished The Rise of Ransom City by Felix Gilman. I'd definitely recommend it (and The Half-Made World, to which it's a sequel.)

Joker- By Ranulfo
It is a bit of a strange book. It never gets boring and it is hard to put down. The main character himself is very easy to relate to; even thought he can be a bit odd. It has to do with a bit of Shakespeare mentioned here and now. Overall a great book for people even thought it can get really weird. You will read it over and over again. The book is truly about Matt trying to right his life and live with Joker. That is the short sweet description.

The Order of the Poison Oak- By Brent Hartinger
A heart warming story in a kind of way. It is a bit odd like Joker. Yet it keeps you reading cause there is always something around the corner. Russel feels the need to get away from high school. So in the summer he ends up becoming a camp counselor. He soon learns managing a bunch of ten year old burn survivors is harder than he thinks. If you like Indian legends, passionate romance, a secret society, action, and a kind of heart warming story this is your book.

Hoping to get this done in the next day or two, because my Plan for 2014 is to read a book a week. (Anyone with me?)

Trying to decide what to read next- either Blood of Tyrants by Naomi Novik (problem is, it's been ages since I read the rest of the series and I don't have the rest at home right now so I barely know what's going on) or Ready Player One by Ernest Cline.

Just finished Robert Holden's "Shift Happens" (a re-read for week 1) and am now on to week 2's "7 habits of highly effective people" by Stephen F. Covey, which is ok but not living up to the hype.

I have been reading Lord Of The Rings again, they just arrived in Moria, the start of the book was pretty slow, but its starting to get pretty exiting now! :D I'm nearing the end of The Fellowship Of The Ring.

The Bill Johnston (good) English translation of Solaris by Stanislaw Lem. Definitely not the "human romantic problems in outer space" that the 2002 movie adaptation was. I've just started, and am enjoying the atmosphere of paranoia so far.

Jack of Shadows by Roger Zelazny (one of my favorite writers). He's a contemporary of Michael Moorcock's and has a somewhat similar style in writing, creating very vivid characters and often blending the familiar with fantasy and science fiction seamlessly.

I loved Lord of the Rings, first read it when I was 10... The only problem I had when I first read it was occasionally forgetting the names of some of the more obscure characters, and constantly finding myself trying to go back and see who they were and when they were first mentioned... Also, getting obsessed with looking for all the places they mentioned on the map. I think I can still see that map in my head, lol...

The Zombie Autopsies by Steven C. Schlozman, recommended by writer Max Brooks and film-maker George A. Romero. Because obviously this is the perfect thing to read after years of (tedious) zombie apocalypse dreams has finally ended. ;p

Still reading the Count of Monte Cristo (on and off - he turns very strange), but have thrown in a bit of non-fiction, Liza Dalby's "Kimono", for a bit of light relief.
