Help Forum C1/The Albian Years OK on Windows 10...?    Carminechimera      12/23/2020  2 So, having got my hands on a Creatures 1 guide & some old manuals for nostalgia's sake (mainly collecting)... I have really wanted to play Creatures 1 again. C12DS doesn't quite hit the same for me & honestly, though I play C3/DS the most, it's not my favorite. That's still the original game. Anyway. Eyeballing the GOG C1 page again & I wanna know: Besides NOT installing it in the GOG folder like DS's deal, anything else I need to get this running smoothly on Windows 10? Any "must-have" patches? The website mentions it's already patched but doesn't go into much detail... I worry a fan patch could break things if something is already there. As for C2, I'm aware that it didn't work at all on Windows 10 until recently, but I'll cross that bridge when I get to troubleshooting that. TL;DR: Anything very important I need to know about GOG's The Albian Years to get C1 running on Windows 10? Or am I mostly good "out of the box" so to speak with manual installation of files to my documents & such? Also the health kit doesn't work on my version but like, that might just be a me thing   Carminechimera   12/23/2020 You got a link to that please? Also- anyone else weigh in on the health kit being broken for them? If so, are there user-made alternatives for C1 to help with this? Still waiting for someone to clarify if the health kit works on their systems though. The game doesn't cost much but I still would like additional information before I get it & possible frustrate myself with stuff that can't be fixed at all. "Gob swear- if me see ONE more potato in house..."   GimmeCat   12/25/2020  1 Fix C1's Health Kit by setting the Launcher.exe to run as Admin (and not anything else), and use that to run the game. Confirmed this for myself and 1 other person yesterday on Discord so hopefully should work for you too.   Carminechimera   12/25/2020 Oh, okay! That's a much easier fix that I was expecting. I figured I'd have to change some values or like, get some player-made thing to sort of soft 'replace' it like the LP potion. Thanks! I wanna play C1 again pretty much completely bare of injections so I can have some childhood nostalgia ahaha, as it's just so easy to inject tons of things that take the little bit of difficulty out of it for me.
