So in attempt to delete some breeds I stupidly uninstalled and erased everything from my windows 10 laptop where I play creatures docking station from GOG and now I can't get it to install right now matter what I do. I install it to my documents as directed then attempt to install c12ds and run into problems here because it will only install if I select "Creatures CIE" for some reason rather than creatures exodus which is what I have from GOG. I don't know if it has anything to do with re installing the game so much (it worked perfectly for a long time) but it seems to always create several different locations when I install even though I just install it to my documents every time. Sometimes it still installs to c program files. Then sometimes it creates another set of files under creatures (with no bootstrap or agent folders) as well as creatures exodus. I have no idea how to prevent this split installation |

GoG galaxy messes with it because it wants to add a "Creatures Exodus" folder within the folder you're trying to install in, plus add a "helpful" mod folder in documents you can put all your mods into.
Needless to say this breaks the game. So, you need to use the installer available in "extras" rather than the GOG galaxyinstaller, because it won't add the extraneous "Exodus" folder. Now you can install directly in Documents, so this "helpful" mod section actually coincides with your real install location!
And then you have to check the .cfg configuration files in the ds and c3 folders and actually edit them in notepad so they point to the right places (your current install path).
That should cover the basics, but also check out this

You know, considering that this breaks almost all mod capability i'm surprised they haven't changed it at all in the like 10 years they've had it for sale? |

Yeah, plus their version of Creatures 2 is a broken mess on Windows 10, and is essentially unplayable without third-party fixes. |

so I re installed with the standalone installer and it added the creatures exodus file, so i changed all the docking station files in the registry to just creatures not creatures exodus but still neither the remastered patch nor c12ds will install, saying it cant find a .dll file and many others |

sounds like you did it right. the .cfg files are one in the DS and one in the C£ folder, you just right click, open with notepad, and rename all the folder paths so they're also correct (if they aren't). |

I gave up and installed the free download. Most everything works now cept the remastered patch and some of the TWB breeds but that's ok. |
