I don't know if anyone else has, or is having, this problem, but when I try to hook the Biochemistry Set or the Brain in a Vat Kit into either Creatures 3 or Docking Station, neither program is able to communicate with the game successfully.
With the Biochemistry set, I get a connection failure notice and no data showing up on the chemical graph or in the organ viewer. I get a similarly vague error message from the Brain in a Vat Kit, as well. All it says is, "Could not connect to Creatures" when I try to hook into the game. And that's it. Those are the only apparent error messages I get. Nothing more accurate or insightful than rather generic warning messages that something didn't work.
I have a sinking feeling it has to to with where I installed the games, but I'm not sure. I really don't feel like having to reinstall all my Creatures stuff into it's default/classic location if I don't have to.
Anyone have any advice or a known solution to the problem with the developer tools not playing nice with the games? Besides reinstalling everything in their legacy locations, anyway.
Well, those two suggestions fixed it for the most part, but now when I try to monitor a creature in real time with BiaV, I get a Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library error with just the tool's executable path and 'abnormal program termination'. I click OK, BiaV closes, and Creatures has already locked up completely, so I have to force-quit the game via the task manager.
creatures caves is your #1 resource for the creatures artificial life game series: creatures, creatures 2, creatures 3, docking station, and the upcoming creatures family.
