If you have any resources for the Creatures 1 brain and what happens in there, can you guys link me that way? I'm using the DDNA Analyzer and CrEd32 to look at what went on with my first long-term Norns behavior-wise and I found unexpected mutations in a 1st gen hatchery Norn.
Since I can't get the Genetics Kit to cooperate fully for now, I can't just open the gene in there and see what happens and how the Kit corrects the error., or the full definitions/dev notes used in it.
The minimum strength of the Decision Lobe on gene 120 is hiked way up at 130, though the max strength is at the default of 4, so I'm unsure if it's really doing anything. Is Banana here basically putting an insane amount of weight to the final decision she makes, or is it over-written by the MAX 4 strength and just always seeing it as 4?
Also on nearby Concept lobe gene 122, what does Relax STW mean? It's set to 0 in normal Norns, on Banana it's set to 1 instead. (What does LTW mean too, it's on the same line?) |

You might like to read through The Creatures Developer Resource or I am Ron's brain. You might also like to check out the decision lobe page on the Creatures Wiki.

Thanks, Malkin, that first page answered almost all of my questions in one fell swoop!
So the strength is the dendrite's connection, in general. Depending if it reads the minimum value first and corrects max value to it, or if it corrects minimum value to be equal to 4, Banana either has a really hard time un-learning behaviors, or is just kind of "stubborn", if I'm guessing at all this correctly?
...And the relax STW being set to 1 in the Concept lobe should in theory mean... I'm not sure if the value is inverted or not, or if it affects anything at all, but if it is inverted and the higher it is, the longer it lasts since it's technically a half-life, right? It should mean that she takes a little longer before LTW kicks in, which either means she takes longer to react to her circumstances, or she has a longer window of time to learn behaviors...
I'm pretty sure that I've guessed those all wrong.
EDIT: After sleeping and thinking on it more, no, if I Am Ron's Brain's model is the mechanism used and nothing is flipped around, then this means that Banana's concepts will eventually fade into LTW values instead of staying as they are forever as long as the concept exists, and that should be either default engine values or nonexistant, I'll have to look into what happens with that one too and see if it functionally affects the Concept lobe. Looks like Banana might have given me some gengineering ideas, that's neat! |
