Bunny Norn and Micro Grendel body data

Hey! Have been getting into C3 again after quite a while and noticed something when trying to use Bunny Norns and Micro Grendels. The females look and behave normally - but the males have disjointed sprites that get further and further apart with age, and I'm not sure why.

I remember this being an issue with the Sprite Norns and a few others around the time when they first came out, but as far as I'm aware there were never any fixes released for these two specifically. Is there any way around this? I also remember talk around male vs female ATT files but I don't really grasp the specifics of it. I really love these two breeds and it's always been a shame I've never been able to use them properly, this issue has persisted over several reinstalls and versions of the game.

Thank you so much in advance!

The main problem lies with the official breeds in the norn slots that share the same letter (e.g. the Magma Norns in Norn E, which correspond with the Micro Grendels in Grendel E).

For whatever reason, the official norn breeds install junk BD into the Grendel and Ettin slots of the same letter. So when the egg agent for any breeds in those Grendel and Ettin slots get installed, the agent thinks the BD is already installed and skips over it. This is not noticeable when the new breed is also a normal-looking norn breed, but when it's a grendel or ettin or a breed that otherwise has nonstandard BD you get disjointed creatures.

The official breeds only have BD for the males by default, since the logic is that the females would use the same BD. This is why only the males of third-party breeds are the only ones usually affected by this.

The solution is simply to completely uninstall and reinstall the affected breed. If you're thorough, you'll also get the junk BD. If the breed in question has BD for all the lifestages as the official breed (as I believe the micro grendels do; not sure about the bunny norns since I never used those), then you're free to hatch the official breed again. Otherwise, I'd be careful about using the official breed's original agents.

I wrote more about this here.

If you don't have any of the official breeds installed...then I'm not really sure what's going on here.

That cleared it up perfectly, thank you! What a strange phenomena in the end. Have gained a much better appreciation for the intricacies of the .att naming system and how tedious sifting through a whole folder of them is! It definitely paid off in the end though : )

If anyone else is having this same issue I'd be happy to put up the edited .att files for these two, it'd save you a half hour or so. Excited to finally be able to use these unreservedly!

In future, ReSlot saves having to sift, it can uninstall slots for you :)
