Help Forum Creatures 3- Docking Station problems     Zurinsel13        1/7/2016 Hey everyone, it's been a while since I last played creatures, but I have managed it to run on Windows 10, it had it's issues ( For example in the DS Metaroom where you can inject agents the picture was simply gray) but it was playable. Until now... I tried to play it today and it gave me this error: CSE0001: Caught C-style structured exception at 0x00471F9B EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION The thread attempted to read from or write to a virtual address for which it does not have the appropriate access. I have this game since a very very long time but never ever had I this happening to me (In case you ask, yes I had creatures remastered patch) Can anybody please help me? *Edit: Additional information: I use the original creatures gold CD and not the creatures exodus version nor GOG version of the game. Are you running both Docking Station and Creatures 3 with administrator's permission?   Gonzo   1/7/2016 I have no experience with Windows 10, but the line "EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION The thread attempted to read from or write to a virtual address for which it does not have the appropriate access." seems to imply, that you should either run the program as an administrator or that your creatures directory is write-protectet.   Zurinsel13     1/7/2016 @ Lilrosaleen I don't remember if I have installed the creatures 3 update ;-; ^^ yes I am running Docking Station admin @gonzo I hope that it isn't write protected Thanks again for the quick replies! I will try to reinstall the game and hope it goes away Edit: I tried running creatures 3 as admin to test it out and it gave me this error: NLE0007: You must specify a game name in the command line. For example, Creatures 3 or Creatures Adventures For soak tests, specify --autokill before the game name to kill agents which generate run time errors. After that please apply the Remastered Patch and then the Creatures 3 Update Patch 2. Also you will need DS Offline Option. Good luck Please post again if there are still problems.   Zurinsel13     1/7/2016 Hey I tried reinstalling it and it won't let me, I had this error a few months ago where it magically fixed itself, but it seems this time I am out of luck >W< I documented my problem with pictures because a picture says more than 1000 words: This is the screen when I run the autorun, when I click install the creatures installation screen is missing but according to task manager it is in the background (Hintergrund is german for background ;D) and finally it gives me this error. Last time it solved by itself, but this time it seems I am out of luck :/ "Vision is the art of seeing what is invisible to others" -Jonathan Swift   Lilrosaleen   1/7/2016 When you insert your installation disk, please do not allow "autorun" but instead, browse the cd as if you were to view the files on it then find the executable to start the installation. (I am going to have to guess here:probably something like setup.exe or similar. I have the GoG version, so I am unfamilar with the cd version of Creatures.) Rightclick the executable and run it as administrator. (If you need a step by step description for this entire process please do say so, and I will be glad to describe it in more detail and specific to windows 10)   Zurinsel13     1/8/2016  2 Thanks again for the quick answer, Lilrosaleen! Omg I have seriously no idea why, but this time it doesn't start the installation in the background O-O I tried setup.exe and autorun so many times last night and now in the fresh morning I start the laptop and it just simply works! Yay! I will happily read your guide of how to properly install it in windows 10! Thanks again Edit: The Creatures 3 Patch 2 fails to make the patch catalogue o.o It tells me it is unable to do that, I tried the one from the Creatures Labs website and the one I got on the CD .-. I have no clue why it won't work. Remaster Patch however does work ;D so something positive. "Vision is the art of seeing what is invisible to others" -Jonathan Swift   Lilrosaleen   1/8/2016 You are very welcome, I see now that the Creatures 3 Patch 2 is bundled with Creatures Gold Edition after consulting the wiki. As far as the patch failing to install, I once again recommend to run the executable for that as administrator instead of allowing autorun. Maybe first try restarting your laptop and then try to install the patch again. It should not matter if you use the patch from your cd or the patch from the creatures labs website as they are both the most current version of the creatures patch (=Creatures 3 Update 2).
