Do we have access to the C3&DS code? | |

I'm interested in fixing various issues the code has. The games meant a lot to me as a child. Do any of you know if we have access to the source code for any of these creatures games?
Thanks |

We don't as far as we know, though openc2e was a thing a few years back, which aimed to rebuild the game engine from the ground up, or something along those lines. It's been dead for quite a while now so I wouldn't get your hopes up. |

Interesting, I was not aware of any of this. I appreciate you filling me in. I will keep investigating :~). Maybe I'm being over ambitious. |

I know that GimmeCat has the source code for Creatures 2, but she was given it with specific instructions not to publicly release it. Apparently Spil Games are now the owners of the Creatures franchise, but to be quite honest, trying to get information out of them is like trying to extract blood from a stone. |

@C-Rex Ohhh okay. I understand it is private work and property.
That makes sense. It looks like Spill Games is more interested in the new mobile creatures installment rather than touching the old games. I wouldn't be surprised if they haven't even opened any of the previous games' code.
It looks like a lot of devs on here have been recreating creatures huh? (as opposed to having any access to and repairing the source code) Whether it be emulating aspects of the old game onto a new engine or creating new physics for the games.
Again, thank you sooo much for getting me up to date. I haven't been in the creatures-sphere since I was about 12. |

A few people have tried to recreate the games over the years. There is one in particular that does appear to be active, but I'd had some trouble with the developer on my server, and a few others have had problems too, although whether you want to contact him is entirely your decision. |

Oh okay. Hm... It would be fun to attempt to mimic Creatures just for the heck of it. I sent you a message regarding that developer. |
