Testing. I found this message right before the game opened.

Then the game proceeded to open, froze once while placing an egg in the world and then gave me an error message but did not shut the game down.

So far I am hatching a test egg to see how it does.

So far the norn has been okay and reached adolescence, but I ran into 3 more things:

- The milk vendor has a glitch when you click on it. The bottle falls, and the message appears, leading to a crash.

- When I click on the "favorite places" menu and then click on "the incubator" it brings me to a place up in the sky somewhere near the telescope and above the ocean.

- The grendel egg layer will continue to lay eggs endlessly unless removed from the game shortly after a few grendels are born. I'm not entirely sure how this action effects game play or if its built in to do it.

There are a lot of other plants that I found in the object injector, and I'm not sure what some of them do yet. Perhaps giving a text document along with the final telling about the flora from the world would help explain if anything has negative side effects to the creature who consumes it.

- Learned that injecting any of the original toys via another cob, causes them to not work. So I've gathered those won't be usable in this world. :o

- Shortly after the live birth of the first baby norn, I received this strange error, I believe it may have been caused by another cob.

I wanted to test this for GirlySatan the other day, but I couldn't get the world to show up. :(

Nello, how did you install this? :$ Maybe I'm being a complete div, but I tried everything: running the remastered patch, putting all of the files in their correct folders, deleting 'World.sfc' and renaming 'AlbiaSquared.sfc', running C1 as an administrator... I must be doing something wrong!

When you rename "AlbiaSquared.sfc" to "World.sfc" are you then putting it in the C1 folder in "My Documents"?

Yeah, it needs to go in the "My Documents" one. It should work then. Probably one of the more confusing aspects of The Albian Years. Make sure the game is not running when you replace the file, or it might get overwritten.

@nelly, That first error looks like its the waterfall. Ill get on that. I also found the error in the drink vendor. Thank you!

The egg layer keeps laying eggs i think. It wasnt originally mine, it was Muppetboys, so maybe I can add a limiting factor or something so it wont lay eggs constantly.

I do have a website that has what all the plants do, but I haven't published it yet. So that is planned to be ready for that, I just need to upload it. But the plants that are currently in the pack have no undesirable effects since they are herbs and not weeds.

Yeah most of my toys come from the treasure chest. I think the problem with adding more toys is most of those cobs dont have the needed codes to make those toys work. Ill see if i can find the original toy files and add them in.

I'm finally in and I've gotta say, it's absolutely beautiful. I love how there's food everywhere! :D As well as finding the bugs that Nello's already pointed out, I have noticed a couple of little things which might be glitches:

1. I picked up and dropped two cabbages, and instead of dropping to the floor, one landed on the scarecrow's face (ha!), while the other sort of leaped and landed on the platform above. :P [Screenshot] This also happened with one of the garlic cloves hanging above the kitchen stove.

2. This one is a bit obscure, but over by the greenhouse area I noticed that some of the vegetables underneath the greenhouse weren't displayed properly. [Screenshot] I was able to click on the blue speck though, and pick up a radish.

That's all I've been able to find so far, but I'll keep fiddling about and see if I can find anything else. :)

Oh yea! I added a room on the scarecrow so you can put stuff on his arms. That is fine. I think the room may be a little short so that is why you had the cabbages dropping on the platform.

I am not sure what to do about that greenhouse thing.

Still getting the error from the first image I sent when I open the game...

Now when I click the launcher, it starts the world, I scroll over to where the milk vendor is and then it gives me the "XP send error report" thing and then closes the game, so I can't get the game to start without it doing that.

I think it might still be the milk vendor or maybe its the original toys that need a double check.

The milk vendor is still giving me the error when I click on it.

I also am still getting that first error when I open the game. I dunno, its puzzling me quite a bit. Because I don't have these errors when in the original version. Its still a bit buggy I guess.

I dunno if the update worked. [nscared]

The ball is not bouncing or making any noises.
All the original objects are behaving this way.

Could the game scripts be off?

That first error that starts in the game is from the waterfall. I was trying to see if i could add some chemical response to norns when they hear it, but that seems to be a problem for it for some reason. I have retyped the fall script to see if that helps, sometimes when things dont save correctly it will throw off errors for some people and not others.

I have not installed the original object scripts to the world yet. but before we get there, lets not add any more things to the world, and just focus on any errors that come up with a regular game of norns roaming around the world. I have added the ball, but there is something in the game that I added that gives toys.

There is a treasure chest on the bottom floor, if you open it a random toy will pop out, or a rock or some other objects. I want to know if this one is working. Also the oven and the refrigerator. maybe if its the same error in any of them, it will be easier to pinpoint where the problem is.

Any original albia object COBs you have dont have all the scripts in them because it depended on the world having those scripts. But I have not inserted those scripts yet so any original object you try to inject wont work.

The oven, refrigerator and the toy chest are all working when I click on them.

Ohhh okay sorry! I was confused. Now I see why the old objects don't work yet.

But so far everything works except the milk vendor and that weird error when I open the game.

If I find any more, I'll be sure to alert you!

My norn Gabby is my current test subject for this. :)

lol no worries! It's all a learning process for both of us XD

I have just finished updating it so hopefully we wont have the waterfall error this time? If we do I might just scrap it.

I'll work on the problematic vendor so I took it out, and the grendel mother until I can figure out how to fix it. You should see they arent there in the updated one.

I also fixed that beer keg issue.

I added the new world file to my game to test it out, carefully adding the files in case.

Then, suddenly when opening my game with the new world file I got this wonderful message! xD

The game then would not show anything and crashed shortly after. :o

I'm sorry, I caught a cold and had to rest. I can try it out now. :)

While playing the game, at one point this random message appeared twice.

I'm still getting that first error message when I open the game, but it hasn't shown to effect gameplay in a negative way yet.

The grapes above the garden near the incubator do not respawn. I don't know if this was intentional or not but I thought I'd let you know just in case. If they don't grow back, there is no food in the room above the incubator. Not to mention, one of my very piggy little norns loves those grapes for some reason.

Does the garlic replenish? I think I might run out. xD

Also, random question: Do you plan on making/adding a weed collection for players to add to make the world more dangerous to test the resilience of their norns/grendels? Some players might like a balanced world with danger and safety. That way they can breed strong healthy norns through their wolfling runs.

I'm so annoyed with the fall. I dont understand why its not working. There is literally nothing wrong with it.

All the food is supposed to regrow, and I thought I had fixed it so it would. sadface. Are there any other foods that are not regrowing besides the grape and garlic? anything that is growing on the trees or in the ground is supposed to regrow.

My world is unfinished. I have weeds and animals and more objects to release but they will be released at a later time. I am just trying to see if I can get this world to work correctly which is taking much more time and error fixes than I expected!

Okay so I fixed the respawning problem. I have a new version ready to be tested, for anyone who wants to test!

Here is the new link. Everything should be working now, and I tried a new waterfall (I think). Let me know if there are any problems

Edit: Thanks to Razgriz's help, we figured out that the error with the waterfall is an engine issue where it doesn't like the sound loop if you close or open the game near the waterfall. You can avoid this error if you close/open your game away from the waterfall, or if you have the doctor cheat active.

I love it, I'm looking forward to a blackboard cob, though! I can't work out what all the classes of objects are, and having creatures who know how to push, etc. on command would be a boon, rather than my little ferals.

There's a sprite error with the blue frothy beer (the one that was derived from the Beer Keg) - it appears as an empty bottle of something else when it's picked up.

A lot of the soup and food items seem to be eaten in such a way that they need to be dropped first before they are removed by the game - Jessica has theorises that this causes problems with norns learning to eat.

The little chili peppers near the lighthouse don't seem to regrow.

Okay so I jumped back in and I'm happy to explain some things. I also have some webpages that show some of the items I've made, because I am terribly scared of blackboards and I don't want to make one lol. But I have had a lot of time off from scripting so I think I can attempt an encyclopedia (which I sort of did a little bit? but who knows how good it actually is).

So after looking through all the C1 scripts for like a decade I messed around with a script that most people rarely use, the 17 script. This is how the game gets creatures to interact with an object. I actually edited it to have one extra line, "drop," towards the end to make the creature drop the item once they use it. Its not usually used by most COBblers, but I did find it helped get the norns to drop the item after they use it. If anyone is willing to watch, I'd like to know if this has successfully helped the food issues that many of them run into.

I think I got the regrow issue fixed. Please let me know if anything else doesnt regrow!

Will the object classes largely 'split' in the same way as Albia, or Terra Nornia? If so then maybe an existing vocabulary tool could be used?

That's an interesting use of script 17 to solve the problem! You'd add the 'drop' just before closing the 'impt' section of code with a 'done', right?

Looking forward to seeing the next version of AlbiaSquared! :D

I got the idea when I was looking through the 17 code because drop is used in the beginning and I noticed when creatures decide to go towards an object they drop everything they're holding. So far it has worked wonderfully and I havent had any issues with norns not dropping the items when they are done with them.

I also have been playing around with the 17 code to make the norns do different positions when approaching stuff, but I havent released anything with that yet. But I will mention that I am working on the animal release packs and some other stuff that maybe have some of the script 17 changes!

Some of the stuff is in higher numbers than what the current books already do. Fruit is classified as 2 18 000 for example. I have a list of what each word is for though after looking through tons of blackboards. I was looking at the Dictionary and Wizard code and I was probably going to use that for a base. I already have the sprites for a book, I just hate blackboards and dont want to do it lol. I'll get the courage to try it eventually. Back when I had more ambition I wanted to expand the computer to have all the words but I never made any more screens for it. For now I think making a small book would be easiest and maybe when I am done with the rest of the expansion packs I'll be able to work on an expanded computer.

As a proud owner of C1 as well as a new COB developer on the scene I would definitely like to try to see if this runs on my GOG Albian Years installation.

I have been going through the fungus files and have noticed that they dont have the updated script that allows it to regrow properly. So I am trying to update the files to get the mushrooms to work properly. I am aware of the issue and fixing it!

I fixed a few things.

-There was a small update with the random drink vendor, it had a few syntax errors that were interrupting some drinks.
-I updated the fire to fix a visual error that pushed it in front of some objects.
-I updated the regrowing chili plant because it wasn't regrowing properly.
-I added a few toys to some spare rooms that are hidden in the world. The rooms aren't connected to the rest of the world and can be a good place to hide things from Norns. I also added a couple more toys that I hadn't included by mistake.
-I fixed a problem with the showers that caused them to stay on indefinitely after it was pushed until it broke.

Other updates:
I have been working on animals and another group of creatures I named Chitin, after their exoskeletons. Chitin animals are mostly arthropods, so bugs and stuff, but I also included coral and stuff like the lobster in there. I have a few animals ready and will include them in the update. I wont put all of them in it, but only because I've gone through like a quarter of them to make sure there aren't any errors. I'll update on the progress of those as I go through them.

Does anyone have any input on any problems they've found? I also highly encourage you to click on items too, because some stuff will drop items or interact with the pointer.
