@TheDrunkenNorn: Reading through this inspired me to give a Kannova Venterra-based wolfling run a shot, but I need some advice :S

They're performing generally excellently except for in the little room with the red berries beneath the Tree of Seasons (or whatever the big tree by the deep ocean is).

Did you have any issues with norns getting trapped in there when you were doing your run? I feel like the lift is a LITTLE too close to the wall maybe and the anti-wallbonk gene is scaring them away from approaching it :S

@Elegnaim

I use restraining cobs such as the Energy Gate (At least I think that's what it is called, I don't have the game up at the moment). That way, I can herd creatures into a "livable" area. I think I actually made a Wolfling Run in which there *weren't* any restraints as a big deal.

Update: Next Wolfling Run will be on a Norn breed called the "Violent Norn". What do I know about them? Nothing!

They seem mighty pissed off though. Maybe they saw the Star Wars prequels.

Whatever the case may be... this breed was made in 1999, according to the file information. That's pretty cool!

It's that time of year again...

Yes, it's time for TheDrunkenNorn's Creatures 2 Wolfling Runs!

This time around, we're going to be messing with the Violent Norns, a unique creature breed with no readme, so I have no idea what they actually do. Swell! (I mean dang, it should take about 30 seconds tops to write a basic description)...

I've imported the two Violent Norns, Anger and Hate, into the world. Anger is Male, while Hate is Female (Insert highly sexist joke here). These two cuties are very pouty, even as babies. I wonder what affect this will have on their behavior...

I gave the Norns a freeze gun, as their violent tendencies will no doubt inspire them to want to shoot at each other ;).

Just click this. It's absolutely hilarious. One thing that this proves is that they *are* actually angry; that isn't a fancy sprite or anything, they're really pissed off Norns, and should behave as if they are upset 24/7.

Edit: They do behave that way. They abuse each other constantly, slapping each other around the map. This is really interesting; they're naturally rude, off-putting, and pretty badass. These are the Norns you'd see out behind the convenience store with switch blades trying to sell you drugs.

They're actually kinda cute when they sleep, as this is the only time the Violent Norns smile. Only sleep can quell their bloodlust...

These Norns are regular Creatures 2 Norns. No Canny lobes here.

This norn is in immense pain because it just got the **** beaten out of it. These Norns are vicious.

Hate got her revenge on Anger for beating her by shooting him with a freeze ray! Take that!

I have a feeling that this will short. Even as babies, they've already almost beaten each other to death fighting.

They're obsessed with the word "hit". Hate hit weather, hate hit Anger, hate hit weather, hate hit food...

Anger died due to his injuries, so I imported a whole bunch of these guys to see if a colony of them can survive together.

These Norns would be good at exterminating entire Grendel populations. They are *not* good at living in a small space together. These guys were imported less than 10 minutes ago. It also seems that the males in this Norn pack are incredibly weak, while the females are able to survive the beatings.

Edit: Four of the "Anger" (Male) Violent Norns have suddenly died, "supposedly" due to their injuries. I think there's something wrong with the breed itself.

One of the Hates just died too (Female). I am taking back my previous statement; I just think this is an ill-fated species. The Norns that isolated themselves did fine, but any Norns that came close to physical contact with their siblings attacked their brethren relentlessly until death. None of the incapacitated ones are hungry, so they aren't starving themselves...

I do think they're beating each other to death. Every one of them has died due to body-related injuries. I think they're beating each other up until they are physically crippled from the injuries. These Violent Norns are worse than Grendels, actually. They are far more malignant.

This Anger is the last surviving male. He's the last hope for this colony ever having a future.

They had a baby! In addition, it's a male. This is good news for the community, as there isn't exactly a surplus of males in this community.

Winter has come, and the Norns are all freezing. This calls for a wallpaper!

I found some Ivrogne Canny Norns for adoption online! Woo :D. I might want to make a Wolfling Run eventually with my own breed again, but this time with this strange life-making mutation!

You can get these adorable babies here.

A whole bunch of the screenshots from my Wolfling Run series are on google now. That's pretty cool!

The babies really enjoy picking on the adults. Here's an adult's twitching pain due to a baby's wrath.

I should mention that the particular immortal mutation that resulted in my world either breaks upon force-age (as the case with Everbaby, a different Norn who is missing his child-age marker but otherwise can age normally) or generally keeps the Norns as babies/children. They would probably starve before they could reach breeding age, because most edibles would eventually give them Amino Acids for them to regenerate Life/prevent aging.

So it would basically be a static Wolfling Run. I've observed them for about 30 hours with a small amount of care and they're fun, but since there's only a few of them, they probably wouldn't be your cuppa.

If I recall correctly, I have four immortal Ivorgnes: Myr/Rym, Everbaby, and one last one I can't remember the name of that I think I made by "breeding" Myr with a COB? It's been a while. The last baby was in a quantum death state according to the game because of save weirdness.

Nevermind. I tried to have the Borg Norns assimilate the Violent Norns, but the only thing they did is crash my game. I booted it back up, and the Borg Norns weren't in the last save file. I'll just keep going with the Violent Norn run, and ignore the Borg Norns as they're one of those "overcomplicated, barely-working" breeds like the Hivemind Ettins.

Did you see my potatoes and carrots mod? It makes it so that they're invisible until they're ripe and gives them a noise when they're eaten - which makes them more brain-friendly for creatures, and more noticeable for us.

Do you think you'll give the Wraparound Fix (not CCSF 2016) a go?

Whoa. It feels like after the CCSF, the whole community was pretty drained and very quiet for a long while. I understand that since myself I have had and still have trouble engaging in some of my hobbies, but it's good to see at least this topic was revisited and then restarted with more runs.

- Make a breed for Norns that form family bonds, hand-raising and whatnot
- Everyone who actually uses them uses them for Wolfling runs :D

I'm glad to hear they actually perform well (especially if someone's finally using the newer version), but do they seem to breed more slowly in a Wolfling run or anything? I was worried that in free-run Norn groups the 'parents/children being around lowers sex drive' mechanism would really make it troublesome for them to breed once things get crowded (in smaller populations the breed with altered breeding mechanisms actually performed well).

Generally Norns seem to have some problems in smaller spaces. While the instincts work more on a reward basis and are set in a manner so that the Norns don't actually 'fear' walls, the extra stimuli could teach individual Norns to avoid them, yes.

I'm stills sad about my worlds not running the Hivemind Ettins properly. I wonder if it may be some compatibility issue on a newer systems like many C2 problems. I mean, some of my own issues were fairly mundane, but the fact that 1 in 2 Hebe Norn models has a detached head on my computer is odd.

I uploaded some Ivrogne / K.V. crossbreeds to Creatures Repository last year, you shouldn't have trouble finding them if you wanted to use them.

Well, they are called Violent Norns :D
There are multiple ways to produce creatures that are particularly prone to hitting others. Kannova Venterra are supposed to hit their siblings mildly more often when bored, but the siblign recognition system, unlike parent/child recognition system, is messed up; this is balanced by them also getting positive stimuli by being friendly with their siblings. One could make Norns that grow very angry specifically from Grendels or Ettins, one that get angry from crowding or excessive social behaviors, etc.

Or one could make Norns that are angry as a basic biological function. Which generally leads to the population not being very stable :P

While instances of Nornicide aren't nowhere near as common as DS/C3 Norns, C2 creatures can hit each other to injury, death from stimuli, or death from excessive injury, so, yeah, those guys are murdering each other faster than they can grow up and breed.

I'm pretty sure there are some breeds that do it to a lesser degree (Scorpio Norns?), but while a grumpy Norn population has its own benefits, no one benefits from them straight-up preferring to kill each other over doing other stuff 100% of the time.

I document some of my playthroughs in a blog-style fashion with comments enabled. I may just change them into a blog, but if you're interested in reading such things beforehand, feel free!

[nskull] All of the Violent Norns died. [nskull]

Most of the population was eradicated by beating each other to death. The last man standing was... well... the last man standing. He angrily wandered around until he died himself. Without anyone to angrily populate the species with, the Violent Norns fell.

I plan on using Hip-Hop Grendels on my next Wolfling Run!

The vindictive Borg Norns, fought off by glitches, have retreated from Albia. The Violent Norns... fought themselves off.

About

These colorful Grendels are sure to bring some brightness to your world! They are much more social than average Grendels and you'll even find them dancing together! The Hip-Hop Grendels are based on Lis Morris' Boney Grendel genome, but with several features edited to make them a much more social breed.

Also included are two pre-trained Hip-Hop Grendels named Tupac and Missy (Gay).

Features
• Extremely social and enjoy other Creatures' company.
• Completely new pigment colours - great for introducing into an
existing Grendel population!
• Will do a groovy dance when in the company of each other.

I should copy/paste the readme more often.

Question: How is a non-wolfing run difficult at all with an Akamai Canny Norn? Now that I think about it, while Creatures 2 is hard, all you need to do is unlock the Advanced Science Kit (Literally found in the nearby volcano that is incredibly easy to reach from the starting point) and inject them with life + food + whatever.

With Meat Vine and Ocean Bridges, what's the challenge? I'm curious, from you purist C2 players.

Oh wait I guess I should have found out if these Grendels can breed...

I kinda already went through that mistake with the "Grendel Wolfling Run". I don't know how to check if they can breed, but I'll look around.

Edit: Readme says they are Boney Grendels, so I'll implement the Boney Grendel Breeding Patch. I don't really know if alternate breeds count, but we'll see.

Edit: I heard kisspopping! Here's to hoping they're infertile/that they will stop hitting each other!

Edit:

Looks like they are fertile after all. Can someone who is more experienced than me tell me what the number means under "Pregnancy" in the Observation Kit on Creatures 2? Thanks.

Consider me wrong again. God.

The babies ARE smaller. It just seems like the Hip-Hop Grendels ship with grown-up Gendels.

CUUUTE. I'm naming this one Queen Latifah to keep with the cringe rapper theme. I don't know if that is actually a rapper, by the way. I just googled female rappers, as the Grendel is female. Meh.

Grendels are cool. The baby started beating its parents.

They kisspop constantly, so breeding shouldn't be much of an issue.

I see the appeal of Hip-Hop Grendels now. Their dancing animation is freaking AWESOME. I just hope their mad jigginess doesn't get them killed by forgetting to survive.

Edit: Mmm, nothing like a Grendel husband beating his pregnant Grendel wife. What a game.

Edit: I made my Bibble rap-related as well, to keep with the theme some more. For scnizzle my nizzle, word. Dawg, swag. Dollars for days. Got Meat Vines in my pocket. Yeah. What.

Edit:

Edit:

Well, they multiplied quickly. These guys breed faster than I'm used to; I wonder what the deal is?
