Creatures Caves

So I recently had a thought upon reading a recent Creatchi-related bibble to create a survey about people's thoughts on Creatchi. I have my own likes and dislikes about the feature, but I think it'd be interesting to see just how common they are.

To give my own thoughts on the subject: Creatchi is probably one of the best features of Creatures Caves. It's just so much fun watching them grow, breeding them, and seeing what colors they produce. Plus if you're feeling creative you can give them whatever personality you please.

As for the bad: Do I really need to repeat my gripes about the energy bar at this point? Though to be honest, it's not so much the drive itself that bothers me; it's the fact that creatchis fall asleep when it drops, effectively making it so that it takes two hours at the least to fill. Compare this to the other drives, which take a couple seconds at most provided you have the necessary items.

I also can't say I like the poop all that much either. It was funny when it was first implemented, but now I just don't think it adds anything to Creatchi. On top of being glitchy, scoops are very expensive so it's difficult to keep on top of it if you're not super active. The poop might not do anything, but it's still ugly to look at and that's punishment enough for me. Furthermore, unlike the other drives this feature has no parallels in the actual Creatures games. At most real Creatures urinate, not excrete (and said urination is just another cycle within the genome rather than something visible externally).

A new thing I've come to be bothered by is how much of a crapshoot getting black and white creatchis is. They're random, to some degree, moreso than the other colors. It's annoying enough trying to aim for them, but it's frustrating when you're trying to breed another color yet a black or white offspring shows up and potentially kills off the color entirely.

So what would I change? I'd at the very least make the energy bar NOT put the creatchi to sleep when it drops. However, I think it'd be better off not being a drive at all; rather, I'd make falling asleep something that just happens on its own, once every two days or so. Maybe make the creatchi make the sleepy face for an hour before falling asleep just so that asset doesn't go to waste.

The poop I'd ax entirely. So much for the assets, though.

Another thing I'd add is an additional thing to do with a Creatchi other than tend to its needs and breed it. Maybe something like clothes or a personal room. At the moment, once a Creatchi has bred and had its two eggs, I'm waiting for it to die so I can move on to the next one.

A gene splicer of some kind would be nice, too. Creatchis are made out of multiple parts (there's even some examples of this theoretical scenario in the Gallery), so it'd be interesting to see how the species mix together for real.

There should really be a more reliable way of getting black and white creatchis. I've suggested one potential solution earlier on this page, in the form of custom Creatchis. However, another potential option is making it so certain color combos always produce a black creatchi or a white creatchi. That way people who want them can aim for them more reliably, while also solving the issue of having black or white creatchis potentially ruin a bloodline of another color.

And finally, the obligatory mention of new patterns other than stripes. It's been highly demanded for years at this point; it's kind of strange that it hasn't happened yet.
